Direct Behavior Rating
Direct Behavior Rating (DBR) is a fast, evidence-based method for rating observed behaviour immediately after it occurs.
What is DBR?
A teacher observes a predefined target behaviour — e.g. participation, focus, or social conduct — and, at the end of an observation window, provides a short rating on a scale (e.g. 0–10). The rating takes only seconds but is scientifically robust and allows trends to become visible.
Why DBR works
- Fast — only a few seconds per rating
- Evidence-based — repeatedly validated in field studies
- Visible trends — see developments unfold over weeks
- Low barrier — no research design required
